Recruiting
Recruiting
We are recruiting master’s students, doctoral students, and postdoctoral researchers from all over the world who are interested in research that solves clinical problems based on medical physics, such as medical image analysis and image processing for improving diagnosis and radiation therapy, and computer simulation for radiotherapy.
The Division of Medical Quantum Science welcomes applicants to the master’s and doctoral programs who aim to become practical leaders and organizational leaders with a research mindset, researchers, educators, or medical physicists. We actively accept students from universities other than Kyushu University as well as working professionals.
Admissions overview
Our graduate programs cover a wide range of research themes: medical image analysis (image quality assessment and diagnostic imaging technology), diagnostic imaging (CT, MRI, radiography, mammography and nuclear medicine), radiation therapy (radiation oncology, IGRT, SBRT, brachytherapy and particle therapy), and radiation protection and measurement (dosimetry, Monte Carlo simulation and radiation measurement). As of 2026, 34 master’s students and 15 doctoral students, including 5 international students, are enrolled in the division.

Accredited medical physics education course
The master’s program of the Division of Medical Quantum Science is accredited by the Japanese Board for Medical Physicist Qualification as a medical physics education course, and training medical physicists is one of its aims. In radiation therapy and diagnostic imaging, a growing number of graduate students, radiological technologists, and medical physics researchers are becoming certified medical physicists, which broadens the range of work they can take on after employment.
